I have been looking for a replacement motorhead for my Eheim 2217 with no luck for almost a year. The only motorhead that I can seem to find is one for the 2215. Is it possible to use a 2215 motorhead on a canister for a 2217, or are the canister's different diameters? Should I just forget the entire thing and just purchase another 2217? Thank you for your input.....

If you're looking for the whole top pump housing, buying a new filter is your best option.

Yeah i need the entire top housing, my younger brother picked it up and dropped it cracking the motor. Ah well I'll just have to look into getting another one. Idk why Eheim doesn't make this motorhead anymore?

The 2217 and the 2215 head can be interchanged without a problem. If you can not find the 2217 head, i would recommend you buy the 2215 head and just buy a 2217 impeller, which are very cheap and will give you more flow rate. I don't remember exactly but two filters are identical except for the impeller, even the motor ithink are the same, not 100% sure on that though. I know for a fact the heads and the impellers can be swapped though...

I don't think the 2215 and 2217 pump heads are interchangeable at all. I just measured mine and the 2215 canister is 8 inches in diameter & the 2217 is 9.25 inches in diameter.
