Since I hooked up my eheim 2215 fairly recently I have been staring at the spray bar scratching my head thinking. Isnt back pressure a bad thing when your looking for max flow ? So I finally worked up the nerve to modify german engineering. ( I mean why not I put exhaust on my BMW to prevent backpressure and that worked :)

I used an 1/8" metal drill bit and drilled 5 additional holes tilting towards the bottom a little more than the existing spray bar holes (They face straight ahead 3" under water.

Once I was done with this little project I put it back on and noticed my filter inlet was much more responsive :)

Thats not a bad idea. also lower current in case you have small fish right? I might just have to do this mod. Thanks for the great idea.

Thanks for the compliment :) And also a reason for me doing it that I didn't list is for my jack dempsey they don't like strong current.
Also I figured what the hell right if I want high pressure again I can always silicone the holes I put in it :)

Do you have any other recommendations/mods on the eheim? :)
Thats all I can see doing without compromising certain aspects. You can always play around with the media though :)

I've been thinking of drilling the pre-drilled holes a little bigger so the output is not like a fire hose LOL..
lol exactly
