Eheim wet/dry diy of sorts

So having had a dodgy eheim wet/dry thermo filter laying dormant for a while i have got my new set of seals. I ripped out all the media to seed my new eheim pro 3. Rather than spend a fortune on new eheim media i am gonna diy the media, got me a truck load of pot scrubbies, loads of straws (just waiting on the kids coming home from the in-laws and they can cut them up). Some loose fibre floss and gonna run it on my snakehead tank........what do you reckon???

since you live in the UK, I'd go with alfa grog. very cheap and lots of surface area. far better than straws and nylon scrubbies.
