I have one. I like it alot. Seems to work good. Extremely quiet.

is it only good for bio? Do you need another filter for mechanical filtration? I have read that but not sure

I have a 2227 (smaller version) they work great, more moving parts than a typical eheim though. If you are familiar with the pro II series, it is essentially the same filter with a "flushing" mechanism on the side. you will have 3 baskets to fill as you wish. I think that the mechanical side of the filter would be typical of a eheim pro II.
