Ive just brought an eheim classic off ebay, it doesnt come with any instructions or the usual accessories like long peices of hose. basicly ive tried to get it started in a bucket. ive siphoned the intake hose to get the water to fill the filter, i onl get a dribble out of the output hose if its level with the filter water level, otherwise i get nothing at all. any help why it isnt working? and its making a scraping noise when its on.

Well canister filters are gravity fed so you wanna make sure that your filter is below your water source.
yeh its under the tank, but ive just discovered that the impeller is in really bad condition, anybody think that could be another cause of problem
yeah a broken or miss working impeller could easily be the source of the problem! and as far as direction u can google ehiem (what ever model) user manual and a pdf will usually turn up. GL!
