Anyone have insanely high electric bills due to fish tanks? I have an Emperor 400 Bio wheel and a samll power head with a dual flow aerator... Should my next electric bill be insanely high?

I don't think you will even notice.. That is pretty insignificant power usage.... I am interested to see how some of the people with huge operations are effected.. I have a 30,55,125,150 and 180 running and I don't think it does significant damage to the bill....

i have 9 tanks.. 10,filters, 10,lights and 9,heaters. and one of them has a powerhead and altogether im running 3 airpumps. my bill is slightly higher but not to noticable.

my elec. bill is kinda but not really high ;)

My electric bill is outrageous! But I live in California and am running 9 large tanks with multiple filters. $250 a month

high wattage lights running 12hrs a day and chillers will show up on your bill
but thats about it

The power draw on pumps/filters is minimal, a 1500gph pump usualy draws between 120 230 watts depending on maker, like lemcc said it is high end lighting and things like chillers that will get you.

I have 7 tanks (30g, 30g 30g, 20g, 10g, 40g, 75g), all with lights and filters and have not noticed any change since I originally moved into this house with 3 tanks (5g, 30g, 40g). When me and my sister moved outta my mothers house she said she did not notice any change at all in the electric bill...if two teenagers do not make the bill go higher then I doubt fishtanks would.
