The local petstore had two of these guys, not sure sex of them but these red and bright blue Beauties caught my eye. They were $26 a pop and were in; roughly a 10 gallon tank with a million Guppies and platies. Do my fellow cichlid Junkies think these are a good catch should I get one or is it better to get both. I've done some research on them since I've seen them in my past two visits. I guess they don't seem that aggressive since they are with Guppies and platies and I've watched them 10-15 minutes the past two times I've them, they didn't attack anyone, and no one was missing any fins. I guess my concern is I have small german, bolivian, electric rams, and a trio of young keyhole cichlids. I wouldnt want my small spunky cichlids pissing someone off. I know very well each fish has a very different personality.

Any more hands on experience would be great.

I had a breeding pair in with fish much smaller and the didn't harm anything. They'll definetly chase off fish when they came to close to their eggs, but nothing I would consider overly aggressive in anyway. I think they are very good community fish.

Yeah, I mean they were literally in a maybe 10 at most with 20-30 male guppies and 2 dozen male platies.(I love how my store keeps the livebearer hornballs seperate, so my females come virgin). All up in their face and were eager for food and still didn't comp at anyone. My smallest fish is a school of rummynose tetras. Those and my zebra danios skim the surface.
