Hey everyone i was just wondering if any one has any thoughts on electric blue acaras? I was at world of fish the other day trading some baby Blue Acaras in and I saw the Electric blue Acara tank. I was wondering if any body has any info on them. Do they breed like electric blue jacks or more like Electric ram with the genetics side of it. also are they weaker like Electric Jacks are or do they have normal streangth. And if they are more like electric Rams were a Pair of them will make all electric offspring than would a pair work with my other blue acara pair in a 55 gallon tank that has 7 glowlight tetras and 3 Black neon tetras. I also don't really care if the tetras get eaten. Any help would be great thanks.:D

You should try the search button there are Many threads on them and they are relatively new to the hobby.

ok so I got the genetics part figured out but what about the compatibility part of it?

My assumption would be to treat like regular blue acaras. So they may eat your tetras and I wouldn't recommend two pairs in a 55g things can get nasty with one pair I wouldnt add two pairs.

They're just like any other blue acara. They can be a bit rowdy with conspecifics but nothing serious. Mine peck and chase each other but I only see the occasional torn fin. They also nip at my red head Geos a bit but again, nothing serious. I have no doubt they'd eat small fish so I'd only keep them with deep-bodied tetras or fast-moving stuff. At 3" mine are housed with much larger severums (10") and Krobia (7 - 8") and they're fine.
