okay i might have gotten ripped off but supposedly every fish in this tank is ebjd or blue gene jack
i'm thinking i might throw in a few earthworms to trigger spawning
actually i believe the dude from aquabid was breeding ebjd because out of the 13 he sent about 7 were deformed freaks
so he inbred a LOT
i got some ebjd's from different sources and have a couple regular female so hopefully now that my rottkiels did something, i can concentrate on getting some nice hardy ones
by outcrossing

Looks like my jd that si like 3 inches right now...i saw you got screwed

but if you can get a close up that would be better

hey well it certainly could have been a rip off, but at least i know it's a female finally (thanks mfk i've constantly gone back and forth on those sexing jd threads)
but i have a couple ebjd's hiding in the corner
basically the only way to tell is for her to spawn with an ebjd and then only 50% will express as ebjd if she's carrying the gene
if not, i have an extra year to wait
my pics all suck and today is water change day

Hey, I just wanted to wish you the best with your breeding project. Ever since I started keeping blue dempseys I've wanted to breed them and help make them more commonly available at cheaper prices in my area, but I don't have the time to start such a major project.

again, good luck,
Serg

gl on the breeding project. from what i have heard they go thru some sort of death cycle shorlty after the fry get to about a inch, i've even heard of this cycle happening 2 times with some ppls batches. supposualy u need a "blue gene" female and breed to a full "blue" male, to get your fry at about half blues. however i personally haven't tried breeding these yet. however i have purchased a few at like 1-2inches, and all have perished, due to some sort of illness or parasite, or something. so i gave up on the breeding. i know of a fellow named Ormed, not sure if he posts here anymore, but he has extensive knowledge on this particular issue. maybe toss him a PM.
