I got my Blue Cray a couple months ago. It used to down rosy reds, neons, and even plecos that were too slow to get away. I would stock his tank with 10 rosy reds about every 2-3 weeks. I decided to go a different route with it and put in one small jewel cichlid. This went fine but I missed watching my cray eat fish so I took the jewel back. Now, however, my cray doesn't even try to eat the rosy reds. Has this happened to anybody else? Can I retrain him to eat live foods? If not, what should I feed him to go along with the occasional algae wafer?

Thanks for your help!

Before my cray died, i used to feed it JBL Prawn Pellets, as well as stuff like defrosted scallops, and mussels (since thats part of my puffers diet)... either way, i'm sure there are plenty of options out there...

I had a blue cray that loved algae wafers and would jump all over them every time I put them in the tank. He didn't bother fish unless I didn't feed him for a while.

But like most crays he was a professional escape artist and he killed himself. Even with the tank well covered he would find ways out! So make sure your tank is escape proof!

I'm not sure what the best way to get him to eat live fish except stop feeding him anything else and eventually he will get hungry enough to go after the fish.
