I am soon going to have a 100-125 Gallon tank. And I originally was going to try and get my hands on a mated Oscar Pair. But I saw some pictures and have been reading up on Electric Blue Dempsey. I've fallen for both. Now I don't know which to get. Any experience on either of these guys? Any information will be appreciated!!! Thanks a ton.

IME they are very hard to keep alive.. but if you can..they are incredibly beautiful fish. I believe there is a thread on here about them.. Why dont you just get one Oscar and an EBJD???

I just bought an EBJD yesterday and i love him. I dont have much experience with them ,bought i know i already love it. Just make sure if you get an oscar that the EBJD is large enough not to fit in the O's mouth cause they are expensive fish to be dessert.
Here is a website someone else gave me about them

I keep a EBJD and Oscar together in a 125Gal for over two years now and they are best of friends.

I agree on keeping them together as long as you let the EBJD get well acclimated and stable before adding the more hardy oscar

Agree, I grew out the EBJD in in a different tank first then put him in with the big boys. Also it helps that my Oscar has a passive personality.

exactly, and normal dempseys are normally pretty good tankmates for oscars, so I would just worry about stressing out juvie EBJD but once bigger, it should be fine

One thing about oscars is that they grow extremely fast. One thing about EBJD's is that they grow very slow. I would highly recommend getting a much larger EBJD than oscar because the oscar will quickly catch up in size.

I would just grow out the EBJD for a long while, then once at a large size then introduce a rather small oscar
