I've been doing a lot of research on breeding EBJD's. I currently have two male EBJD's that are about 2" which I would like to put into breeding pairs to eventually breed EBJD.
Is there any good advice out there that any of you have that have done this before or any suggestions.
Thanks!

EB MALE WITH JD FEMALE = EBJD jc EBJD jc F X EB M (from diff line ) = 50%EB & 50% EB jc sepperate EB fry from EB jc as soon as you can tell the diff

Thanks for the help. About what time line with the fry do you see a definitive difference?

what you would really need to do.. to save time (eventually), Money, and Genetics... is to find a Reg JD w/ the Blue Gene .. and try and pair that up with one of your EB males.. may take you some time to find a BG female.. but that's the route to do.. and try not to cross the related pairs ... good luck

Some people take short cuts and inbreed. Mating BlueGene siblings will give you approx. 25 % ebjd fry but they will have all kinds of defects.
If you can raise your own blue gene, you can be more sure of the quality. Are your two males brothers?, or do you know if they are related? It is best to get pairs that are not related to each other. This will give the offspring more hybrid vigour.

Also make sure that the Blue Gene or Regular Jacks that you introduce to your Blue Jacks are smaller than the Blue Jacks. BlueGene and Regular jacks tend to be more aggressive than Blue Jacks. Larger tanks will be better for breeding as well. 75 gallon is a nice size.
