i have two EBJD and two gold manfish, its already 8 months now. At first 6 months my EBJD act like other normal cichlid. But the past 2 months my EBJD act like strange. its got panic everytime i approach the tank. The skin have broken. Nothing wrong with the water.

My question is why my EBJD always got panic

Thanks before

(sorry for my bad english)

My EBJD does the same thing. try providing more places for them to hide. Mine has calmed down a bit but he's still very nervous. You may enjoy this video.
I have two great EBJD videos that you may enjoy.

The Dave The Dave is EBJD was a shy fish? good setup btw, and nice EBJD too

Jack dempseys can either be bositerous or skittish. The last 2 that I owned were skittish fish that liked to stay in its corner and hide.

What are the numbers for ammonia , nitrite, and nitrate using a liquid test? How much water change do you change? When do you change the water? What is the temperature of the water?

I am not sure about the skin condition, but like Rocksor pointed out check you water parameters. Stress however, cause all sorts of problems.

I will check the water condition about two days later from now, because im busy right now.
Maybe i should buy some hiding places, any ideas?

I used to have a pack of juv. EBJD (10) and after 10 months with me they're still skittish and a whole pack always hide behind a big driftwood, once a pair has form they chased others out and those got chased stick together and hide in different site of the tank (behind a big rock)...I got fed up with their skittish and sold them all.
