Does anyone have any experience as to what it means when the EBJD turns really dark blue, almost black and also when it turns into a more turquoise blue? My one is very dark a lot of the time but doesn't seem stressed, eats well etc. However he is a lighter blue, like a purply turquoise in the mornings but gradually gets blacker as the day goes on, and also I noticed when I did a water change earlier he changed into a turquoise colour when I was pouring some cold water in. I think he looks better the turquoise colour. My temp is at 28ºC and has been since I got him. Do you think I should turn down the temp a bit or is the lighter colour when he is stressed? It is very confusing!

mine does that. he get really light when i come up to the tank and really dark when i am not to the tank. i think they r scared.

But when I am up at the tank he is begging me for food! He doesn't look scared to me! We were thinking though that he went lighter when I put some cold water in and he swam in it, maybe my temps are too high? But, when I first got him raising the temp made him perk up, eat and be more active.

mine tank is at 26C.
"when I am up at the tank he is begging me for food"
^mine too

But what I am saying is he isn't always dark! He is full of life, eats loads and isn't showing signs of disease. He has been like this for about 6 weeks.

did you ever treat him for parasites? really weird though that he keeps changing so often but i guess if he is still acting normal than maybe you just have a very moody ebjd

yeah I did at the beginning (ESHA Nematol) and the tank was recently treated for Hexamita (ESHA Hexamita) because a new geo I got looked like it had HITH
