More what decor? Or fish? I wouldn't do live cichlids have a habit of tearing or redoing the tank :p. The tank is too small for a jd. .. maybe a Pleco or pictus ?

It would be possible to keep a single full grown EBJD in a 29 Gallon. They're slow growers and don't normally get as large as regular JDs. You could try 2-3 juvies but you'd have to take two out after about a year.

As far as decor goes, a few driftwood caves for them to hide in and some plants and you'll be good to go!

I keep fake plants, a large piece of driftwood, rocks and a clay pot in mine. The clay pot is his territory, he defends it against the rainbow fish - they are not usually even allowed on his side of the tank. The driftwood he picks at the diatom algae that grows on it and swims around and underneath it and the plants he swims through or hangs out near them sometimes. He doesn't care much about the rocks. It is likely that eventually your EBJD will outgrow the 29 gallon, if he's still small you may have some time I feel like they're not the fastest growers. Keep up on water changes for sure and good luck.
