Electric blue jack Dempsey

I just got an electric blue jack about 3 months ago at 1 in and he’s grown to about 5 inches I wonder if anyone can tell me if it’s a male or a female ?

Can't tell, but it is a great fish. It's just hard to tell the gender of an EBJD until it spawns.

If I had to give a wild guess I would say female but you really never know until it spawns or you vent it.

If you got the fish three months ago and it was 1” at the time, I would guess that it was at least 6-8 weeks old at the time you got him. He is probably closer to six months old, but that is still a nice growth rate. I will post some pictures of my 7 week old fry in my thread called “Blue Gene Jack Dempsey Pair” for you to see.

My bet would be that it is a male considering it’s growth.
