About 1/4 of the fry from my newest pair of Jack Dempseys show the electric blue color. Any suggestions for raising them? They are just recently free swimming, in a 75 with a few small queen loaches and the parents.
From my experience, I can tell the EBJD from the regulars at 2-3weeks. since yours are just free swimming, I dont think its possible to tell the differences between EBJD's and regulars yet. Even at 2-3weeks, the EBJD's are yellowish in color, then turn more blue as they mature.
Again, this is only my experience. I could be wrong.
I would pull out the ebjd once you can tell. should be about 3 weeks like mentioned above. Stick them in there own twenty or so and feed them live baby brine shrimp. They will sprout right up.
