What is the difference between an Electric Blue JD and a "Blue Gene" JD. or are they the same fish. I'm thinking about buying one or two.
Also, if there is a difference, which would you guys recomend.

The "Blue Gene" Dempsey is a product of mating a Male blue Dempsey with a female regular Dempsey it will not show any blue...... but a male "Blue gene" Dempsey mated will produce an indiscriminent amount of "Blue dempseys"
This is how the species was originally "discovered" by Hector Luzardo his dempsey's mated and some of the fry appeared weaker and of a strange color. He put them in a tank by them selves and raised them and wallah Blue Dempsey.

Hope that answers your question :)

:iagree: very good answer. in short, a blue gene dempsey looks like a normal dempsey (may be more colorful though) but carries the recessive gene to produce electric blue dempsey fry. :grinyes:
