Hey guys.. I have a few questions regarding this fish! I really like them and was hoping to start keeping a few of them.. if I can ever find them!

1) Where can I buy these fish full grown? I seem to be having problems with that.
2) Is there care the same as regular rams? Are they as hardy? Or are they like EBJD, where they are weaker?
3) Is breeding an EB Ram to an EB ram successful? Or is it like EBJD where you have to breed a normal one to an EB one?

I have bred a number of fish from large chiclids, piranhas, bettas, killifish, etc. Just trying to get into EB rams now!

They are weaker than normal Rams but nothing as sensitive as EBJD. Just make sure your water is clean and has low nitrates. Say 20ppm or lower.

I'm not sure where you can find them full grown.

If you have bred cichlids before then this task should be relatively easy.

I don't even see them in any LFS in 25 miles radius from my area, good luck to hunt down full grown for your project :)

Order them from a reputable source online. Rapps had them, John (snookn21) usually has them, I think Wetspot had them.

Usually they are sold as young adults at 1 - 1.5" which is typical for most types of rams. Rams are so short-lived that you would probably be better off getting them a little smaller.

I have not noticed mine being any weaker than other rams. If they're healthy, they should be fine. Keep them warm, 82 - 84F, and lots of clean water. Rams do not like questionable water quality.

Electric blue rams breed true. 100% of the fry from two electric blue fish will be electric blue.

I'm a bit confused.. are these fish popular and just hard to get? Or is it that no one really wants these fish?

I just mean I haven't seen these at hardly an LFS or anything like that.

That's not a huge surprise. Most LFS nowadays just stock generic stuff that's being farm-raised because it's cheaper. They may also be able to get them but there's been no demand for them. Most LFS have long lists of fish they can order from but they will only bring in stuff they know will sell. You could always ask.

Seriously though, the best way to get any quality stock is just to order it online. Jeff Rapps @ Tangled Up in Cichlids has these in stock right now and he offers very cheap shipping to PA, considering he's only in NJ.

His are also the cheapest I've seen because in my LFS they range from $25 - 40 each.

I appreciate it. I would enjoy getting some store credit since I plan on breeding, and would hate to waste such beautiful fish.
