ok there is an electric cat at the lfs and i would love to get it
so any one with some experience about them
the catfish right now is 5"+ and is being housed with much smaller TSNs and a few ID sharks and all at the lfs

what all does it eat, i mean can you train it to accept pellets ?

what might be its growth rate ?

does it hide a lot or does it have enuff attitude to come out and zap people trying to mess with it ?

I wouldnt keep any fish you like with it because sooner or later they will be killed,E cats will eat mostly anything, they are not the fastest growers, but they can and will put plenty of growth on,my friend has a nice 12 incher at his house, they really are a nice cat,if i had an extra tank i would get 1 too.

My electric (mat he rest in peace) grew to 11.5 inches. His name was Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago.
He was actually very fond of my two Reticulated Stingray, followed them all day long.
During feedings, I would drop his portions at one end of the tank and theirs at the other.
He however became to "excited" during feedings and no one in the tank was comfortable any more.
i moved him to his own tank were he died of lonliness.
Point: He ate thawed cocktail shrimp, bloddworms, krill. He started eating Massivore Pellets before his death. (actually he died of ich, while I was on vacation the neighbor kid inadvertently turned off the power to his tank and he got stressed in the cooled waters)
E-cats can be really fun to keep, but YOU MUST RESPECT THEM.
Abe would be inquisitive when I cleaned his tank, but at his larger size I would never let him get closer then half-a-tanks length. Once he grew past 7 inches it became very uncomfortable when he would "juice" out of excitement.
He hit it so hard one day I thought I sh*t my pants. I had a terrible taste in my mouthand felt dizzy. It was my fault.....I was talking to my wife on the cordless phone and didn't realize Abe got too close....I pinned him between the gravel and my hand as I was scrubbing the glass.

Dude... How much u paying for the e cat.... Here they are for about 1200 a pair...
he is asking 800 rs for it
am not so sure that i would buy it
but then again i might buy it
as i am getting 3 180g tubs for the small cats i have as they have grown a bit and are in need of a bigger place to chill
and one more thing they can't be kept in pairs as they are too hostile to each other and will kill the other

Search my name and e cats under the catfish section. I've got several threads about them and had lots of luck with synodontis catfish specie as long term tank mates. They are immune the the e cat discharge. I fed mine predominately nightcrawlers and blood worms. Slow growers maybe 1" a month if you're lucky once they have some size on them and not compatible with many fish. Max size about 3ft although most in captivity don't get above 2ft. Very personable fish in my opinion and probably one of if not my favorite catfish that I've ever kept. ~Trent

We used to get tehm every so often at a pet store I used to work for. We loved to tell the new guys they were velvet cats.... "Just feel how soft they are" haha

ok i got the sparky three days ago and i have kept him alone in a 180g rubbermaid and yesterday when i went to feed him he kinda swam up so i thought i might try handfeeding him and he didn't get spooked or anything and ate the earthworm from my hand that was so great and again in the evening i hand fed him
he is 3.5" and doing great
i hope i will be able to pet in a few more months with out getting jolts of affection from sparky
