Knee deep in fish
Well question number two for the night. We also got an electric catfish today what kind of tankmates work with these guys if any

i kept one with a 8" fahaka puffer - they were about the same size. It's tail was never pretty from being nipped by the puffer. I provided it with cave and it pretty much kept to itself except for feeding time. sold it when my puffer died  & decided to try salt water setup

now I wish I would've kept it - from the posts above it makes me want to try one with my RBPs:shocked::)

p.s. - just for clarification, the puffer was not killed by the cat

I breifly had a small, maybe a foot long electric. He stayed in a corner underneath driftwood all the time. He soon ended up in mortal battle with my redline snakehead at the time. The redline actually won, however from the final incident afterward, he had a very large kink in his spine and eventually died due to complications from it. If you wanna go with a solo monster cat, id do something a little more active and aesthetically pleasing. But, its all in the eye of the beholder.

E Cats FTW! I had a 10-12" E cat for about a year until I had a bad tank crash when I was out of town and loved it! I kept synodontis flavitaeniatus and synodontis multipunctatus with mine with no complications what so ever for that entire time. After hearing that they "might" me immune to the shock I wanted to test the theory and it held true. I'd say most if not all syno's are probably able to tolerate the shock from the e cat and my e cat in general showed no aggression what so ever towards the much smaller synodontis catfish which were 1/3 or less its size. Rock and Driftwood hideouts can prevent aggression significantly and can save the lives of other fish you have if the E cat feels safe and doesnt discharge.

When I purchased mine it was in a 210 with a 20" silver arrowana and some pleco's and hadn't caused any trouble. When I added a longear sunfish to my tank for testing purposes though...it was toasted the same night when it tried to stay in the spot my e cat loved in the tank... The E cat was easily the most charismatic fish I've owned and would learn to come to the front of the glass when I walked in the room wanting to be fed. Lastly here's a few pics for size comparison of my syno's to my e cat ~Trent
