I saw an electric catfish abut 4 inches at a LFS in Brea, and decided to purchase it.
But before I did, I asked the lfs if it was safe for the fish I have in my tank and he said that if any fish would try to eat it, it would give off a "gentle" spark to get them to leave it alone.
So I brought it home and when i saw it swimming, i thought it was cute and all of my fish were actually leaving it alone.
The next day when i woke up, everything was still fine so i went to church.
Then when I got back home, my 20 inch snowflake eel was DEAD D:
his slime coat was all white and rotting into the water, so i immediately took him out, siphoned the tank with the slime floating and took out the gravel wiht the slime on it.
then from what it appeared, the eel was bearly moving and looked shocked and paralyzed since he can barely move.
So i knew it was the electric catfish so i took him back for a refund and got myself a 8 inch flowerhorn with a big bump instead
but in a different tank of course!
so lesson learned is, NEVER buy an electric catfish!
