Electric catfish

Felt Sorry for the little guy at an auction in nj a few weeks ago.So i picked him up for next to nothing.For now hes in a 20l(only about 4")
I know there mainly nocturnal And I think hes been eating.Ive been throwing in some pellets,crumbles and feeder guppies and in the morning the tank is clean.
Anybody keeping these?
What do they normally sell for?
I know from reading MFK they get huge but grow pretty slow,whats the biggest anyone has right now?

As far as I know no.I did see a thread on mfk where someone was keeping syno cats with one.And hes been sharing a tank with a krib for two weeks but the guppies dissapear every night

i have one around 12 inches in the 5000........he lives happliy in the rocks..........loves the small sinking hakari gold pellets.....

however.... he is capable of injurying or killing tankmates....its always risky putting more than one fish in a tank

Im thinking If I keep him long term Ill make a pond for it in the fishroom and see if I can run the lights off it

I know a guy who has an oscar 2 plecos and a pictus with one and they are all fine... so far the tank has been setup with thoes fish for 2 years

remember an electric catfish has less kilowatts than a electric eel..

but they still give you a good jolt if you touch it

We had one about 10"-12"several years ago and my boss was standing on a metal step ladder, catching it for a customer when BZZZZZ, he was on the floor!
My boss, not the fish. Funniest damn thing .
