Hello,

since these fish are actually knifefish i guess i am at the correct forum here.

Would like to knoe if anyone got experiences with these fish. Like what ph levels did you use? How much flow or no flow at all since the fish likes still water?

How did you handle the danger of getting shocked?

Greetings

i am not sure if anyone actually keeps these on this forum. good luck anyways

Hmm does not seem like it :(

I am really wondering about the water parameters, many sources imply, that they prefer low ph levels, since they often live in still standing forest waters, but on the other hand many sources imply, that they simply do not care about water paramters at all...

Some memebers had them and remember seeing it for sale in the marketplace. That was a while ago (years ago).

Yes they don't have a particular water preference as they are air breathers. Keep the water normally clean as any other tank. They reside in water without current.

They can pretty much survive in mud. Just dont stick your hand in the tank

I know that one guy here who had one had some extra long rubber gloves (like almost to the shoulders) for reaching into the tank.

I had one for a year before i had to move and got rid of the tank. it just sat around doing nothing. Did my water changes with a large syphon and didn't touch the water. never went at the syphon or seemed agitated by it. ate very well, market shrimp/pellets/tilapia dropped right in front of it.

overall very boring fish, more appeal from being able to tell people about having an electric eel than actually seeing the fish do anything.
