Hi, I could use some advice with electric eel from Peru. It is 4 feet long, in a 200 g tank.
History: Acquired in 2017, from Peru. In 2020 approx 7 inches from end of tail had 90 degree kink that was somewhat buoyant. Dosed tank with tetracycline, resolved for the most part except for 3/8" pock mark that never disappeared.
3/1 tail very buoyant, same region as issue in 2017. Difficult for it to gulp air. This time not a kink but rounded fold (see photo). Water change 80% with lowered water level and dosed with aquarium doxycycline from Cal Vet Supply. No change in tail.
3/10 Water parameters: amm .75ppm, pH 6.0, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 5ppm. Did 90% water change and treated with Fish Sulfa Forte sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim. Repeated treatment on 3/12.
3/15 Water parameters amm .5ppm, pH 7.0, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0ppm.
