Do people keep electric eels or are they rare?

its a pity you aint in the uk there is one for sale on here. they are faily rare but i no of 2 for sale in the uk, my lfs$ has had one for a while now they dont seem to do much lol

i've heard they easily make 4-5 foot in captivity so you need a big tank but from what i've seen they dont move much so i dont no, you will have to wait for one of the other members to tell you about that,
the one i've seen 3feet was up for sale £500 then down to i think £250 but i no they will take alot less to free a tank up

They're not too hard to find here, seasonal though. I saw a 16" going for $50 a few months ago. Juveniles (6-8") going for $20.

theres one for sale at my LFS for £40...they just wana get rid of it and he is a BIG boy!

seen one around 2 feet for like $60. Theyre nice fish and they really don't need a huge tank
