Yea thats why I sold mine. Had him about a year knew it was just a matter of time till a mishap or stupid curiosity got the better of me.sold him to another MFK member. Not sure if he was ever heard from again.
just use rubber gloves when cleaning to prevent him from shocking you... ive been through worse... 11 years ago i got stung by a brachyura in argentina, took 8 years to heal... left a nasty scar, but i got it removed in cosmetic surgery
Check with one of the vendors on here; some of them have had them for sale before.
Also, I don't see a problem with someone having a potentially dangerous animal such as an electric eel provided that its properly cared for, "handled" responsibly, and treated with respect.
Like Ryan suggested, just check with some of our Vendors. Someone should be able to get you something. Personally, I think these are fish that definitely be handled by professionals.
Generalexotics.com has them occasionally. But like others are saying think 3 or 4 times on this decision they aren't a fish to be taken for granted and aren't appropriate for most people. They can get almost 8' long and stun or kill a large horse.
