1. . If a light is bumped and happens to be heading for the water. I will always, without thinking, grab for the light hoping not to kill my fish.

It is for this reason that.

2. You should make sure that the placement of your lights is secure and (if possible) not easily bumped at all.

3. If the worst does happen and you have to rescue the light from the water. It's best to grab for the light using your right hand ONLY. Grabbing with the left increases your risk of death...lol

A more significant percentage of electricity travels through your heart on the way to the ground when you touch something that might shock you with your left hand. If you are ever trying to catch a light before it hits the water it is best to use your right hand in the off chance that you shock yourself you won't fry your heart like a potato.

What's so hard to figure out about that?

Put in Ground Fault outlets for all fish tanks. They'll trip fast enough that the fish SHOULD be safe :)

I know what you are saying though... I've grabbed for my light before :)

lol yes if you have to use one hand and don't ground yourself out. Easiest solution. Turn off power to circuit, remove outlet, replace with GFCI. That outlet with the buttons in the middle. 5$ fix and everyone should have one of these to anything plugged in near your tank.
