Alright, i have a 30gl saltwater, a 30gl. 2 gal, and a 55 at my parents house. the electricity bill was about 130.00 a month!. and my parents are not home till night because of work. is this normal? only 2 have heaters in them 150 watt. All have AC filter. the salt tank has a Rena canister.

What your guy's electric bill like ?

well depends on what part of the country you live in. and if you have any other applianced that are running on NAT GAS or PROPANE. mine is like 60bucks w/a 125gal runnin 2-250w visitherm. 2 AC 110 and about 9' of flourescent lights. just get a part time job and give your parents money every month for your tanks if you do that they won't *****.....as much hahah

I have a 125 with two stealth 250W heaters and 2 AC110's and on various other tanks I have the following running:

2 whisper 60 power filters
2 200W heaters
2 50W heaters
1 Whisper 20 filter
2 whisper 10-15 filetes

and my bills 68 bucks....

I have never seen a huge increase in my bill.

More details of your home need to be listed (age, size, stories, appliances). My lowest electric bill in the current house has been around $140 in the winter time and about $180 in summer, using A/C. But keep in mind my house is a two story, about 2.5 years old, CFL lights all over the house, new efficient appliances, its about 2,600 sqft, and I have almost 900 gallons worth of tanks in the house.

Also cost per Kwh will have a huge factor on trying to compare electric bills.

i had a large cheap knock-off heater that wasnt working properly once, which made my bill go up slightly...

although, i keep my tank outside per say.. like out door in the sun and cold. i live S. California, so in the say time it gets to about 78/ 85 F. At night it gets to about 55F sometimes 49F. so the heater is on all day in the tank running at full blast. The temp at 85F during day time dose not last very long so by the time it gets cool at around 5pm the heater usually catches up and evens out the temp when its about to get cold.

So that being said could it be the Heater running at full blast 24 hours a day 7 days a week, at 150 Watt and 200 Watt. ?

Thanks guys.

oh by the way, in the house just regular stuff is running, like the everyday fridge, no ac, the heater is gas powered. light are hardly on .

around $350-$400 right now, but I am currently in the process of changing some things to make it go down.
Changing light bulbs
Turning down my beer fridge
All tanks put on timers
keeping house few degrees warmer

For the first time in 10 years we got a check back from the billing company today, still running at 150 a month though
