Does anyone know how to measure electricity(current) in a fishtank? The reason I'm asking is because my fish are acting strange-pacing back and forth across the glass frantically and sometimes will just be sitting there and then all of a sudden its like something stung them and they will bolt around. The only thing I can think of is current in tank driving them crazy from a shorted electrical devise-heater- pump, or maybe some parasites. But I don't think it is the later, becasue they look really healthy and I don't see any signs of parasites. All are eating well. Thanks

Umm its been awhile since i took the electrical course so i may be wrong in the method but get a multi meter a cheap digital one shouldnt cost more then twenty bucks
set it to ACv put both probes in the water it should be a stable reading of 0.010-0.020v
which is nothing you will probably get a higher reading in the air near anything electrical or from yourself touching the probes i got 0.020v in mine i have a lot of equipment

I'm going to do some tests to see how to measure leakage current in water....I;m not sure how

Could there still be ich in the tank when I don't see any white spots on the fish?

Yes there could be. When you see the white spots of ich that means it has already been there for a while (time dependent on temp.) Even if there are no more spots only means that they are not ready to leave the host for another yet. If you have done ich treatment continue for the period of time that the chemical states. For ich I only use the Salt/heat method. I try to stay away from chemicals of anykind for treatment.
Bring your heat up to 84 degrees and watch, you could even add a tablespoon of salt for every 10G of water. just to be safe

Good Luck

these are a couple of the products out in the market that help hobbyists out with grounding problems.

one thing you can do if it is elec.... buy a titainum wire run it from inside the tank to the screw in your plug outlet.. this will make it so no ele current is there.. as it is how to ground the tank it self

oops lol i see one above
