so for someone who has 0% knowledge of physics, electrical, etc.... im trying a little experiment with ferro fluid. id like to put a couple of electromagnets like this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4x-3W-DC-12...482?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecfc22f8a
under a thin piece of plexiglass (like the thinnest i can get at homedepot. maybe 1/16? and run it thru a computer fan controller. so my question is, how big of an electromagnet would i need to penetrate the acrylic and have a strong enough field to get a decent reaction out of the ferro fluid? would i have to put a screw or nail thru the acrylic and against the lift solonoid or would the sheer magnetic force penetrate enough to get a reaction?
