Its interesting that this tank is the most low maintenance tank I've ever kept, so I take little credit for it.
Other than daily (water taken from the surface) water changes, and rinsing the sponges near the pump intake, no maintain seems to be needed, yet nitrate stays less than 5ppm.
No vacuuming, because the heavy feeding plants (like the lilies) need all the nutrients they can get being in partial sun (no lights).
And yet no (or little) algae to scrape, because (I believe) the higher aquatic and terrestrial plants use up the nutrients the algae needs to take hold.
The sump seems to be the only place algae can get a foothold, and it sits in almost full sun.
The Valisneria started back about a year ago with 1 small plug (next to the sword plant)
And without any help from me, ran wild.
