Would this work? Would an african knife be better?

I don't think it would work out to well considering they both give off electricle currents. I think you would end up with a lot of fighting.

makes sense....I read about a BGK that ate a EN

They say you aren't supposed to have them together because of the electrical currents. I bought both about 2 months ago, without knowing this...So far, they have enjoyed each other, they follow each other, eat together, hide in the same log, and so far...no problems with attitudes or aggression...I have them both in a 55gal with an oscar, angelfish, zig zag eel, and 2 gouramis. The tank is a great community, and full of life...if it is up to me, so far i would say they are OK with each other if the tank is large enough.

Holy Oldie! The crossing of Electrical pulses is a myth. These fish can be kept in the same tank. The only issue a lot of the time is the fact that there isn't enough territories.

I have also had a BGK get along with an Elephant Nose for a good amount of time.(Not that they ended up fighting in the long run, I just moved that into different tanks a few months later) Just make sure they have space, enough food, and enough hiding places and you should be good. Also, I would advise to introduce the two into the same tank at the same time to reduce the issue of one or the other claiming territory right away, then introducing the other fish into a tank that already has been claimed. (Normally results in fighting, and sometimes death)

I have a baby whale fish and elephant nose in the same tank with no problems..i think that electrical current thing is a bit over dramatized

i think they are okay together as long as you make sure the delicate shy elephant nose is getting enough food... they are usually in a species tank..but if you really keep a keen eye of everything then i would try it in a big enough tank
