Getting a bit desperate here.
The problem is my new elephant nose fish will not eat. He has good water conditions, lots of places to hide (something they like) and a large enough tank for the moment, 40 gallons.
His tank mates are 1 small and 3 medium Angel Fish (about 2.5 inch at largest), 4 blue platty, 7 cardinal tetra, 4 scissor tail tetra, 1 Redwag swordtail and one small Picatus Catfish
I have tried to feed him freeze dried bloodworms and tubifex worms. He has zero interest in them.
Nor does he care for the flake food, but I expected that.
This evening I went back the aquarium store and asked what the the issue could be. They explained that as a wild caught fish he won't recognize the freezed dried food. It's just not close enough to what they eat. They (the store) apparently fed him frozen bloodworms. I bought some frozen bloodworms and attempted to feed my elephant nose fish. He wouldn't eat it. Like all the other food, he wouldn't take it. Not from my hand, the bottom of the tank or from a clean turkey baster.
I understand this fish is bottom feeder and is most active at night but I -need- to know if he is eating and what he will eat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Again, I am getting a bit desperate this fish is going on 3 days without eating (as far as I know/have seen) and I don't want to see him starve to death. I know fish can go some time without eating but I don't know how long this guy is going to last.
