got up yesterday to find 1 of my elephantnoses dead and the other 2 not looking good. this all hapend over night they where eating well vary active and all that. i tested the water and i did have a small amonia spike .25 do to a pluged up sponge filter. all other specs are normal. tank is a 180g 48"x24"x36" temp 82f. tank mates are 8 discus, 3 i mean 2 elephantnoses:cry:,3 singapore shrimp, 1 8"silver aro, and 1 6" bgk. now i guess the aro or bgk could have atact them but these fish have been together for months and have always got along fine and even now the aro will go over to the remaning 2 and check them out but no aggression at all. now not only do thay have these patches on them but they just sit in one spot never moving wont eat at all and have got real skiny. any ideas

If they are getting skinny, chances are they could be suffering from intestinal parasites. Consider isolating them and try levamisole hydrochloride or flubendazole to treat them for possible internal parasites.

thanks all for the help but they have all bit the big one and now 2 of my discus are infected too. but oh well thats how it goes i gues hopefully i can save the rest of my tank

Do you have a source to levamisole hydrochloride? Ask your vet as it is restricted in most states.
