i have either elodea or anarachis and im not sure if they're the same thing so dont get me for it :chillpill: lol theyve been in my tank for about 3 weeks and still no roots! i have gravel just gravel and i did some research and apparently u some sort of fertilizing substrate or something and i don't have that just gravel and i use mardel plant nutrient once a week with recommended dosage. some of the stems have lost leaves and in parts are bare but have leaves in most other spots. theyre still green but i have no idea! please respond if u no wats going on thank you

In my opinion they are one of the hardest stem plants to get to actually grow roots on the bottom.

I have had some for about a year and they got some roots growing out the side of the stem at several different places. But none at the bottom.

And my tank has flourite sand and pressurized co2 and I dose dry fertilizers daily.

I just recently transfered them to another tank that has drift wood and I tied them lightly to the drift with sewing thread.

I would love to get them rooting as well, but after a year in a tank with IMO the very best plant parameters. I gave up.

I bought some stems of bacopa and cabomba to take there place as they are supposed to be easier to get to root.

thanks i had a few of them grow those vines off the stem those are roots? i was hoping that the plant was branching off or something, but a few did go for the bottom thanks for ur imput

chop the bottom of the plant off from the start of the root....then plant. it grows quickly so the length you chop will be replaced in no time

that sounds like a good idea cuz the sometimes get removed from the gravel and float around and the bottoms look like goo theyre brown and decaying so ill cut them thanks

my elodea grew roots very fast. it never stoped growing...until my fresh water lobster dug it all up.

it might be cuz i dont have a hood so i leave the light that i have on my ceiling on and it helps a little but theres still no roots
