i have a empty 125 g and was wondering about a elongatus. Are they active or just sit around and hide? and are they really aggressive like i've heard. Thanks for any info on elongatus

dixon is right when i had my 3 pygos they sucked but now that 2 of them are gone the one is nuts and is crazy

Hey all, first post!

Anyways, as said they really do have unique personalities. But the Elong is a streamline fast swimming fish and is more likely to dart about than most others.

They also tend to be more active with less decorations to hide by or behind. But I guess that also leads to a more stressed fish when new to its surroundings. I believe they become a lot less Skittish over time, with nowhere to hide!

Elongatus is a good fish to own. I've had few in the past. They eat well and they sense everything you drop in the water small or big. They have different jaw mouth structure and they are able to open their mouth extremely wide. They need a lot of space to swim , like someone said before their torpedo like shape makes them swim fast and dart at the unsuspected prey. They dart so fast sometimes it is hard to follow them. Every Elongatus I owned were a complete pyscho. So I recommend this fish to anyone.

Powerhead is a must and 35 % water change every 10 days. PH ( if from wild 6.7) if from a LFS or a hobbiest 7.2 PH

They eat everything but , live fish and small shrimp their favorite. I fed mine

beefheart, chicken guts, livers, prawns, chicken hearts,steaks,...anything and everything meaty...
