The next fish i am going to get is definately a black mask elong. It looks like the only way I will be able to get it is online. I've never bought an animal online and i am a little hesitant. Any bad experiences? Also i need some reputible sites that have this fish. I'm looking at aquascapeonline.com. These guys want $150 for it. that seems a little pricey. Any way any info on any of this is greatly appreciated, and if you have an elong let me know if it is worth the rediculous price. I've never seen one in person.

if you've owned piranhas before and know that you are not guaranteed to get a finger-chasing super aggressive fish, then by all means, go ahead and order one. i have had a few and i loved them, but there are alot of people that get extremely frustrated and end up regretting their purchase.

as far as ordering online, i don't hear too many bad stories from people that have ordered and i know alot of people that order from the online sites. piranhas are very tough fish, but if you do end up getting a fish that dies on you right away or that shows up dead, you shouldn't have any problems with getting your money back or a replacement fish.

I have personally owned a BlackMask.. very active and aggressive .. and i have never heard of an elong that wasnt.. but im sure there are some out there.. as for buying fish online i dont think i would ever buy a fish i havent actually seen.. i have bought piranhas off fellow members here and all were in tip top condition.. if your a little reluctant to spend the $150 then i would look into maybe a personal sale.. that way you can get pictures and actual info on the specific fish.. which is probably going to be kept in better condition then any fish at a store.. when i bought my irritans i payed over $225.. with the fish and my travel to pick him up but i knew that i was going to get a quality fish and conversate with the owner..which to me is more important than trying to get a better deal..

i have actually heard of many many disappointed elong owners... there are alot of elongs that take a very long time to come out of their shells. they are extremely fast and love their swimming room, and for some reason, elongs sometimes don't handle the transition to captive life very well. i am in no way saying that people shouldn't buy elongs, the ones that i have owned have been amazing fish, some of my favorites actually, but i have talked to alot of frustrated owners as well, so the risk is there.

i think alot of it can also be blamed on the vendors giving the impression that they are guaranteed to be super active and aggressive fish, some even claim they are the most aggressive piranha, so people order expecting death to show up in a box at their front door.

ive done an order with aquascape and my experience was good.

I've done my First and will be my last from AS because they screw me up so bad. ignore my phone call and never reply to my email. It's well over 2 month already.

Anywhere the best price and quality i recommend is John from NJ (ECZS-1)...You can get 6-7" Elong for $35-$40 no bull *****. I have bought 5 Elong from him a year ago to cohab.

i won't be dissapointed if its not a finger chaser or death in a box. I just don't see spending 150 on a fish. maybe a captive bred green tree python, or emerald tree boa yeah i'll spend 350 but a fish? seems excessive. That $40 deal sounds good, whats the catch?

Hey, to each his own.. i cant see spending 350 on a snake.. my boss has a clarion angelfish.. $3,500 as well as lots of other angels in a giant fish tank. If you want a certain fish it doesnt really how much it costs..hey thats just me though..
