ok im reading that i can put a elongatus in a 35 gallon tank is this true. also in a 50 gallon how many red bellies could i fit. really what i am trying to say is im wondering what would be better to get a bunch of piranhas or just 1 really aggressive elongatus. cause if i have to i will get a big tank but i only have so much room. where can i get a good price for a tank that i will need to.

let's see, a fast moving 1 foot fish without a particularly bendy body, do you think this would be ok in a tank that is only as wide as it is long?

and of course they are going to say that, they want to sell the fish.

Yeah you could probably have him in there for a while, but eventually he'll need one 75 gal or larger just for himself!

Ya, I have a 4-5'' Elongatus, in a 100 Gallon tank solo, and from what I see from him now, a 35 Gallon would be WAYYYY too small, and mine is only about 1/3 of his adult size, they do need a good bit of room to swim freely, and taking into consideration, that they do like to swim FAST alot.

Man, yesterday, I decided that I was going to watch him eat a goldfish, so it had been two days since I feed him last, so I took a goldfish, and pricked it a few times with a tooth pick around the tail and butt area to cause him some bleeding, and to swim gimpy like... Well, after just watching for about 5 - 10 min, I could not believe just how fast it happened, but my Elong just darted to the Goldfish, and in a spilt second half the goldfish was gone in one bite.. It was so amazing, like his teeth are RAZOR sharp and the swiftness of it AMAZED me, I would say that the Elongatus is FAR more superior than most Piranhas. So I am going to try to catch it on video tonight or tomorrow and I'll post it on here... :woot:
