Hi you all,

ElTofi, aquarist from 2001, L-numbers Addict :screwy:, regular poster on PlanetCatfish, AquaGora (a French forum) and on a few other German forums.

I'm coming here for 2 main reasons :

1. you have really weird tanks and fishes
2. I want to build a really weird tank (in concrete and front glass) later this year

I have had till 12 tanks in my fishroom + 4 in the living room (late 2009)... But as I'm getting wiser, I'm focusing on the species that really matters to me... I only have 3 tanks left : 320x70x70 cm (1600 liters), 200x60x60 (720 liters) and a tiny "Peru" specific thing

But I'm considering to create a "big" Potamotrygon tank... something around 3'000-4'000 liters not that high, but quite large and long to have surface...

So I'm going to read around here your experiences and I'll be back to ask a few questions soon...

thanks for reading this introduction.

cheers

Tofi

sorry, I've just discovered the "introduce yourself" sub-forum... could somebody place this thread at the right place ? Thanks

me again... just to give you a few pictures...

1600 liters (320x70x70 cm) : european cold waters

this tank was a South American L-numbers tank till early May 2010... but I've had a tragedy with the lost of 3 mature Pseudacanthicus scarlet (included a spawning pair), 3 Panaques Xingu LDA63 and 3 Scobinancistrus aureatus L14. From May 2010, it's been turned out to a cold water with (baby) Northern Pike

, Yellow Perch

, Carps and crayfishes... I've just added Lepomis gibbosus

(pumpkin perch ?) and black cat (almeirus melas or Ictalurus melas)

this other one is 200x60x60 cm (720 liters) "Orinoco" :

and the last, the tiny thing with a peruvian L-numbers population :
3 Pterosturisoma microps

and 4 Panaqolus changae

and that's all for the moment...

as said, my project is to build a relative big tank for hosting Potamotrygon spp and Panaque sp L191 "broken line"

Nice tanks and fish... glad you posted in the wrong place otherwise I may not have seen this thread.

:iagree: nice looking tanks and fish, and welcome to MFK. You will be sure to find the pleco lovers in this section of the cite but for ideas and other information on building the larger tank you might want to check out the "Indoor Pond" forums and some of the threads on larger set ups.

if a moderator could move this thread to the right section, that would be perfect....

and as soon as I'll have more specifications, I'll open a thread on the "indoor pond" section, as you suggest...

I'm thinking of heating (the tank ?), venting (the fish-room), covering, finding a efficient way of install it into the room... Still a long way in this project before talking about water and fishes...

but I'll sure keep in touch and take advices from here...

thanks

By the way I love the set up in the 720 liter, and sorry to hear about the loss of the breeding scarlets. do you have any pictures of them?
