A while back i bought an Emerald Swift from PetCo, she was in a 20 gallon tank with a skink and i had the bedding that is made from crushed up walnut shells, half the tank was about 4-5 inches deep while the rest only about 1 inch. I looked in the tank one day and saw 5 baby Emerald Swifts. She had laid eggs in the deep part and they hatched and were healthy!. I ended up loosing one baby but the rest did great.
I am wondering is this common (For them to lay eggs and hatch with no special care taken on the owners part)

There was probably a male in the cage at the petstore. These guys are pretty prolific.

I suggest using another substrate besides walnut. Aspen shavings might better.

He hasnt given a time frame from date of purchase to when he saw babies in the tank. Partho is a possibiity.
