Never kept them before, but just from what I've observed in 8 yrs of petstore employment, they do not seem to have a good survival rate. They're usually WC and heavily parasitized. They appear to act fine for a month or two, then die suddenly.

If you decided to get one, I strongly suggest getting it checked for worms. I know they do need high humidity, and they love to burrow in loose substrate.
 
if you get one. treat it for internal parasite for a few weeks just in case. i agree. the few we've carried at work do fine for about a month and kick it. i got one ive had for a year and it's the only one to live that long. dont be discouraged. it's worth a try. just treat it really good.
