i recently got four 9" clown loach ....

after a 7 hr drive from where i got them , they r now in my 180gal for the 3rd day.....

they are breathing super rapidly , and they keep on scratching themself on the gravel ..... and i notice their whole body r covered in tiny white dots..... i THINK they r not ich, cuz ive seen ich , and ich dots r lil bigger... what could it be? i was wondering if it was micro air bubbles since i do have a powerhead in there blowing a lot of air to hopefully help their rapid breathing ....

i added salt and temp at 86 in case if it IS ich..... but it seems like its not helping....

what could it be???! HELP ??

ewurm wherra u ? x_x

man oh man that sounds 99.999999999% like ich to me, treat with ich treatment

Definitely ich. You're doing the right thing, but I would add additional aeration to the tank to help with oxygen. High temperature water holds less oxygen. Also test for nitrites.

Did you dissolve the salt? You need to since you're dealing with loaches.

I agree, high temp, salt, lots of aeration, and do not feed. Stressed out fish will not eat and your tank will just get polluted with rising ammonia levels.

people say stuff like this cause there are people out there that grab a box of salt and just pour it in their tanks.

haha true.... but even if people do that, the salt still dissolves pretty fast in the water xD

Depends on the temperature but you're forgetting stray grains of salt will take time to dissolve and there is enough time for it to burn your fish's skin causing them unnecessary stress which is why I advise dissolving before adding it.

Bro most of the time when the fish scratch them selves on gravel and rock it usually mean ick. If I was you I lower the temp to 84-85 degrees do a 25% water change and add aquari-sol or rid ick and take out the charcoal. When I got my first batch they were breathing hard for a few days but did not get ick. Loaches are known to breath fast when stress out. One more thing try to leave the light off for a few days. Good luck let us know what happens or pm me if you need more info
