I'll explain the entire situation later but for now is my Florida gar going to die it lost and I from a flowerhorn picking at it or I should say bullying it. Florida gar is over 13 in in the flowerhorn is only 6 in so I was surprised.

Id remove the flowerhorn straight away, add some salt, turn the lights off and keep your water clean. The hole will heal over time.

I go about a teaspoon a gallon It needs to be aquarium salt too. 37gallons the pressure on the bioload will be getting up there with a 13" fish make sure you keep the water pristine.

Yes thanks I have some spare aquarium salt. I just want to make sure I understand what you're saying correctly because that seems like quite a bit of salt? Is it because of the eye condition that we need to increase the salt load? By the way thanks so much for quickly responding.

You could use less to start with. Salt aids in healing. More then anything clean water and no stress will be key. Best of luck.
