im freaking out right now, today before work i did a water change on my ray tank everything went as normal. Tonight i get hme from work and the water has gone milky white with a slight smell but not a very stong smell. today i also put a little extra water condioner in the tank than i normally do, is there any way i could have put to much of that in adn thats my problem. some one please help cuz im totally freaking out. i cant even tell if the rays are acting normal because i am having trouble seeing them.

Nick

no idea with the water con just get a spare aquarium/ container fill wid water and add recommended water conditioner. if you have no spare conatiner use a sink/bath remove water from existing aquarium and refill

How big are the rays. Do you have RTC. I would say keep on doing those water changes and slow down feeding.

no not easy life, its big als brand. water changes will hav to wait till mornig cuz its 2 am here andthe parents are sleeping and i must be going to bed too. thanks for your replies i'll keep you updated

That is bad, i had it only a year ago, i over cleaned my eheim filter and had the same problem. When you over clean the bacteria tries to make up for the lost bacteria and you end up with a bacteria boom. Thankfully i had a seperate tank ready and didn't lose my rays.
I left my other fish in the tank, and nothing happened to them. Put the rays into a separate tank quick!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be fooled into thinking everything is all right when things clear up, it's only tempary and it becomes cloudy again very quickly, and your water will have a very bad ammonia problem too.

over night the tank has cleared up dramatically, i added another filter before bed so i think that might have helped. I did not increase the bioload at all and did things the sam as normal, also the only part of the filter that got cleaned was the end of the intake. The only reason i used so much water conditioner is cuz it was the end of the bottle and i thought there was less in it than there actually was, and i ended up dumping the remaining contents into the bucket.I didnt think a little extra would hurt since our water hsa had a strong chlorine/metal smell to it lately. I did a water change this morning and put a small amount of food in the tank both rays ate and are swimming around normally. I'll keep you updated

Nick

Ps. There was also no smell at all this morning coming off the water.

All is well today, tank was 100% clear by the time i went to bed last night. Both rays are eating and swimming around like crazy, so everything looks good. hopefully.

dont worry, im keeping up ont he water changes and i have had an extra filter on the tank for 2 days now and im not planning on taking it off untill the rays are tansfered to their new tank

Great. It will be a long wait until you can put them in, i would say about two weeks to a month.
