I noticed some small white-spots on my 1"+ batch of amphilophus festae. It might be ick, but I'm not sure. Should I use guppy's method to take care of it even though I'm not positive and the fish are only around an inch and a quarter.

I need help asap, so the disease doesn't worsen.

Thanks for the help!

please see my other thread about treating my rescued mota's eye too. :)

Should I use malachite green, or will the fish be too sensitive at this size?

On my smaller fish I've always used salt and a slight increase in temp (1 or 2 degrees) The higher temperature will speed up the life cycle of the parasite. As for the salt use aquarium salt - 2 tsp per gallon of water.

I've treated with aquarium salt already, it's not working, I bumped the temp up to 86. I'm going to use malachite green.

I got pics, but they aren't good enough to help much.

Just remember that any malachite green/ formalin based med is hard on cats, loaches, and especially mormyrids.
