When I was at work today my largest odoe somehow ended up in my overflow box. My son got her out but when I came home tonight she's upside down on the bottom barely breathing. I attempted to push water through her gills for awhile but not sure it's helping at all. Any advice? She is my favorite odoe
Do you know exactly what happened? Can you describe your overflow box? I remember when I lost my odoe I was pissed for days. Keep us posted on how he does.
Just a standard overflow box attached to the back of the tank. This is a large odoe close to 12" and very thick. I wasn't home at the time so I don't have details. My concern however is saving her at the moment. She doesn't appear to have any life threatening wounds. She is barely breathing this morning and upside down but hanging on. I'm keeping the tank as dark as possible and have separated her. Anything else I can do?
Put an air stone under a power head so that the blades of the power head hit the bubbles. Then hold the odoe in the current. Dont release the fish until its strong enough to swim away from your hands. I did this when my pickerel jumped out and it worked. Best of luck.

Same as mentioned...... All you can do is keep water going over the gills. I usually use power heads.
Must have jumped through the gap between the top of the teeth and the top of the tank? Do your returns come up through the overflows? I've noticed Odoe will jump into wherever the current comes from.....
Really no room for her to squeeze between the lid and teeth of the box but she must have actually lifted the lid. Heading home now to check on her. Thanks guys
