Got some fish from petco today and I didn’t notice but they have ich. Red panda barbs and longfin tiger barbs. I’m going to set up a hospital tank out of an old tote laying around. There’s never been anything sprayed into the container or had bleach or chemical in it it’s only ever been used for vinyl records. Is this safe to use?image.jpg

I use these to dechlorinate tap water before pumping it into my tanks with a Python and have no issues so far. Don't know how safe having fish in a container like that is long term but at least there's that.

They’ll only be in there 2 weeks. 3 weeks most. They just need to get over this ich. Gonna drain my 75 into this and use media from the 40

From my experience no need to move them just crank up your temp to about 80+ add aquarium salt 50% WC every other day in a week should be good to go

I have a catfish species in the tank these will be in that I don’t wanna take any risks on. I agree I’m most likely overlooking this but the ich looks pretty bad. Almost velvet like but I believe it’s ich still. Right now I have the temp at 84 and dosed salt

Since adding them to the terribly put together quarantine tank two of the 3 red panda barbs have jumped out but I was able to quickly get them back into the tank. One of them looks really weak but the others are just fine. They’re all schooling together

84F won't kill the ich, and it won't make the lifecycle of ich go any faster than 3 days at that temperature (even at 77f ich cycle is still 3 days). Salt has to be at least 3ppt or 1 tablespoon per gallon of fine grain salt (like table salt shaker size) to have any effect. You can slowly increase the dosage by 1 teaspoon per gallon each day until you reach a total of 1 tablespoon per gallon.

Hi,
not sure if this helps, I’ve only had Ich once in my tank and cranked my heat up to 90 degrees and that got rid of it.
Did not have to use any chemicals….
