ok yesterday some jerk poured perfume in my 30gal tank with my shortbody flowerhorn in it i dont know when this happend exactly but when i want to go feed the fish the water smelled super good lol and it was all foamy so i knew something was wrong after goin nut in the house somebody admit it so anyway

i did a 50% water change and added alot of carbon to the filters added stress coat and stress zyme both more then i usully put yesterday my water was clear now its all murky and fogy looking is this from the carbon and what should i do the fish is being its self eating fighting with the people passing by idk he seems good what should i do with the water and my fish

More water changes, you are on the right track with the 50% you already did which is good, but I would do two or even three 50% water changes atleast

Yes I am saying over 100% water changes, but with all the chemicals in the perfume I wouldn't take any chances

thanks but then wouldnt it just be better if i put him in a new tank yesterday got me a new 55gal setup and its been running since yesterday night i got it for him just in case he wasnt doin good

If the fish isn't suffering, it's better to do a 25% every day till the water clears up. Too many 50% changes can cause more harm than good to the fish and the biological balance of the tank.

It isn't the carbon making it cloudy, it's probably the perfume causing a microbial reaction in the tank. Change out the carbon frequently because with a lot of chemicals in the tank it will get saturated quickly. Be sure to check the ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites frequently to be sure that the biological balance hasn't been too severely damaged.

If you see the nitrates and then ammonia start to go up, you may want to get a starter culture from your LFS to get the bacterial fauna back to a healthy level.

I wouldn't put him in the newly setup tank before it's cycled.

It seems likely to me that the alcohol in the perfume may have caused a die off of your bacteria, and that may be where the fog is coming from.

Check water parameters often and regularly for the next few weeks. You're in for a lot of regular water changes.

I'd do another 50% water change as soon as possible (which means you'd be at 25% 'contaminated' water).

Tomorrow i'd do another smaller water change, and then i'd probably move to every other day 20% changes or so.

As is often said around these boards, the solution to pollution is dilution.

It could be the stuff you added is reacting with the perfume Like above poster said just keep doing 50% changes there is acually very little good bacteria in the water . If the fish seem stressed at all I would remove it.

Probably killed your bio filter. Do several 100% water changes and wash your gravel thoroughly pull all decorations and wash the thoroughly. After that watch your ammonia, nitrate and nitrate levels.

ok ill do a 50% right now and put some new carbon in the filter

ill do that 2 what will be signs my fish is getin bad

Heavy breathing or gasping for air is very bad, if you watch your fish regularly, which I get he impression you are a careful fishkeeping so I assume you do then you will be able to notice anything abnormal fairly quickly
