need to set up my 75 gallon in a rush. a friend is giving me her fish, but must pick up in two days. veryyy expensive fish, dont wanna lose it just because of rush.

AM I FORGETTING ANYTHING?!!!

1. already got the tank running with filter with wet dry filter.
2. took one of my small filter pads from one of my established tanks and put it in the new tank.
3. got some media from a establish tank, hand full and put it in the new tank.
4. bought some nutricycle and put it in the new tank.
5. (was against this) but i went ahead and got 10 goldfish to help with cycling.

THANKS GUYS.

Make sure you have a test kit on hand. Monitor Ammonia and Nitrite. I transferred my filter from an established tank to a new tank and am still dealing with a bit of cycling.

Have some Prime or Amquel+ on hand to treat excess ammonia as needed.

Not sure what nutricycle is (all I could find was wastewater treatment) but you could buy Seachem Cycle to help cycle it.

sorry bout that, that's what i meant. just different name. Nutrafin cycle. it'll have a couple more days to cycle before the new fishes goes in there. im optimistic. let me know if there's anything else. THANKS AGAIN!!! love dis site!!

Add some aquatic plants to the new tank. They are loaded with beneficial bacteria and can also remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from the water. Really speeds up the cycling process.

Plants are loaded with bacteria?

I use gravel from a seeded tank to jump start a new tank. It works best if you just grab a handful and mix it into the new tank. The biggest issue you need to consider is spreading disease from one tank to another by doing it, but since you are already using a seeded filter pad and such, it isn't any worse. If you don't use matching gravel then put the handful of gravel into a clean bit of panty hose and throw it into the filter.

Plants are loaded with bacteria?
Nitrifying bacteria will cling to any surface in the aquarium including plants. So every portion of a plant has bacteria on it. As I also stated, plants have the ability to take in and utilize ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate directly from the water (natural filter).

Use (stability )you can put fish in the same day. It works!! Iam useing it on three tanks now
